Let’s say you got your hands on the best 3D printer in the world. It’s capable of doing literally anything, you could print a freakin’ space ship with this thing. Somebody says, “Ok, make me something simple – like a little box.”

“No problem,” you say, “how hard could that be?” Then a few minutes go by and you still haven’t figured out how to even turn the thing on.

And that is the problem with 3D printers in 2017.

Here’s the issue. Most 3D printers these days, no matter how cool they may be, are still surprisingly difficult to use. It sort of feels like the early days of computers – everybody knows that these will probably play a huge role in our future, but there’s still a long way to go before they’re a common sight in American homes.

But Voladd wants to change all that with their affordable 3D printer that they claim is actually easy to use. The best part about Voladd is its online database complete with thousands of pre-made, printable designs. So all you have to do is search for something you want to make, then press print. You don’t have to have a design background, or know anything about product engineering. Just point, click, and print.

It remains to be seen whether Voladd will propel 3D printers into the mainstream the way Apple did with personal computers, but their simplified printer is definitely a step in the right direction.
